We held the first of our Saturday tastings/food demos on February 9 where we compared baking and roasting different types of squash. Although we did not take an official vote, the discussions indicated the hands-down winner was roasted buttercup squash (yes, that is buttercup and not butternut), with roasted butternut coming in second. It is at the end of the squash season, but the co-op still has lots of butternut, acorn and spaghetti squash.
Our next Saturday tasting will be on April 6, where we will sample quinoa prepared in a variety of ways and talk about cooking techniques. Stop by the co-op for some samples and quinoa discussion between 11 am and 2 pm.
